Mosab Hassan Yousef, also known as "The Green Prince," is the son of one of the founders of Hamas, Sheikh Hassan Yousef. He worked undercover for the Israeli security agency Shin Bet between 1997 and 2007.
During his time working undercover, he provided information that is credited with preventing numerous suicide bombings and uncovering Hamas cells. His motivations for working against Hamas stemmed from witnessing the violence and brutality inflicted by the group.
His story became widely known following the publication of his autobiography, Son of Hamas, and the documentary film The Green Prince, which detail his experiences and the moral conflicts he faced. The book and the film sparked significant controversy, particularly within Palestinian society, where he is viewed as a traitor by many.
Later, he converted to Christianity and sought asylum in the United States. His religious conversion and his support of Israel have further solidified his controversial public image. He has become an outspoken critic of Hamas and a proponent of peace between Israelis and Palestinians, though his methods and views remain divisive.
